What is Twigg?
Twigg is a hosted, stateful API layer for building on LLMs: instead of an application re-sending the whole conversation history on every call, you create a chat once through Twigg, send only the newest message, and Twigg stores the context outside the model provider, assembles it correctly for whichever model is in use, and routes the request to Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, Fireworks, or OpenRouter, switching providers mid-conversation without changing application code. It grew out of an earlier tool nicknamed 'Git for LLMs,' which let people branch, merge, and prune a visual tree of a long-running conversation to control exactly what context a model sees.
Key features
- Hosted, stateful context store, no need to re-send full history on every call
- Routes a single conversation across Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, Fireworks, and OpenRouter
- Switch the underlying model mid-conversation via API or dashboard, no code changes
- Per-request cost reporting across whichever provider actually served it
- Branch, merge, and prune conversation context in a tree view, inherited from its original interface
- Full docs and model catalogue published as plain markdown for easy agent consumption
How to get started
- Get an API key at twigg.ai
- Create a chat object once via the API
- Send only the newest message each turn; Twigg assembles the full context
- Switch models via an API call or the dashboard as needs change
Use cases
- Building a persistent personal AI agent that needs long-running memory
- Avoiding lock-in to a single model provider's API shape
- Enterprise support bots or tutoring apps that need multi-session context
- Prototyping AI features quickly without committing to one LLM vendor
Twigg vs. alternatives
| Tool | How it compares |
|---|---|
| Twigg | Stateful LLM API that stores your conversation and routes it across providers. |
| OpenRouter | OpenRouter routes single stateless requests across many models; Twigg additionally stores and assembles the conversation state itself, so the app doesn't have to. |
