MCP servers for chat, mail, and docs

Last verified: 2026-09

These servers act as the bot or the integration you install. Slack posts as the bot. Notion sees every page you shared with the integration. Gmail can read mail. The failure mode is always the same: the token is wider than the chat you meant to have. Invite the bot to two channels, share five Notion pages, use a dedicated Google account.

What to look for

  • Write scopes (chat:write, send mail, create issues) are optional. Start read-only.
  • Mail and CRM (Gmail, HubSpot, Salesforce, Shopify orders) are other people's data. Use a sandbox.
  • Linear/Jira/Asana are the right layer for tickets. Do not also dump the same work into Slack write access.

FAQ

Slack or Discord first?

Whichever your team already lives in. Do not install both write tokens.

Is Notion safer than Drive?

If you only share selected pages to the integration, yes. A full Drive scope is wider.

Why is Gmail called out as high risk?

Mail is identity, resets, and invoices. A dedicated account is cheaper than a leak.
